About the Foundation - Staff
Bernard C Massey , Executive Director
Bernard "Berns" joined the CMC Foundation as the Executive Director in March 2001. He is a native of Horry County and the Conway area. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the School of Community Banking at the University of Texas. His responsibilities include assuring the growth and enhancement of the hospital's public image by developing a climate conducive to giving, and creating opportunities that will provide financial support for specific projects and programs. Berns serves on the Board of the Friendship House Free Medical Clinic, Shared Care, and the Conway High School Education Foundation. He is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Conway.
Ellen J Simanski , Administrative Assistant

 

Ellen joined the Foundation staff in November 2007, having recently moved here with her husband, Joseph, from Springfield Massachussetts.  She started her career as a Registered Nurse with over 14 years experience.  Her most recent position before joining CMC was in healthcare management, having served as the Executive Assistant and Corporate Officer of Health New England for over 7 years.  Ellen has served as the clerk for the Business Friends of the Arts, a fundraising group in support of the four major arts groups in Downtown Springfield, and she also served on the Mayor's Committee to end homelessness in Springfield.  Ellen and her husband have been supportive of the theatrical arts for many years, and look forward to the offerings here in Horry County.

Jessica L Sasser , Associate Executive Director
Jessica began with CMC in 1999 as Marketing Assitant in the Community Relations Department.  In 2000, she joined the CMC Foundation, and is presently the Associate Executive Director. She is a native of the Conway area and a graduate of the College of Charleston. Jessica contributes to and shares responsibility for the success of the CMC Foundation by developing and implementing a comprehensive program of annual giving, which includes employee campaigns, grant research, marketing and direct mail, and special events. Jessica's previous experience has been with the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce in business development and with Brookgreen Gardens in public relations, fundraising development and special events. She is currently a member of the Pilot Club of Conway, member of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy, Advisory Board Member of the South Carolina Womens Connection,  and serves on the Coastal Carolina Board of Visitors for the Spadoni College of Education.
