Why Volunteer?

People volunteer for many reasons. It may be because they wish to become actively involved in the community, meet new people, explore career possibilities, share skills and experience, or just because it feels good to give an extra special touch when people are sick. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us provide the finest health care services available in our community. There is perhaps nothing more rewarding than giving your time to help others. We welcome you and your wonderful gift of time and energy.

Who are the Volunteers?

Volunteers at Conway Medical Center are over the age of 18, professional men and women, students, and many retirees. Volunteering might mean direct patient contact or it may mean service in the less visible, yet equally essential, support services area. The Volunteer Department strives to match the talents and interests of an individual, their availability and the needs of our patients, visitors and staff.

What is the Auxiliary?

The CMC Auxiliary is an independent 501 c 3 corporation comprised of volunteers who play an active role in our Auxiliary’s various fund-raising events and projects supporting the Conway Medical Center.  As a member of the Auxiliary, you are a volunteer who will be involved in the many activities planned by the organization.

In addition to the intangible, but wonderful feeling of being needed, our volunteers reap many other benefits. They meet new friends, learn new skills, enjoy fun-filled events such as the Awards/Appreciation Luncheon, Volunteer Week, Holiday luncheon to name a few. Volunteers receive a complimentary meal in the cafeteria during the shift they work and a discount on prescriptions at the Conway Medical Center Pharmacy.

Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one year of service.  Volunteers are required to have the physical and mental ability to perform the tasks required by the position profile. Each person must complete an application. Obtain two letters of reference from non-family/clergy affiliations; interview; complete orientation packet; a two step PPD Test and a criminal background check prior to volunteering. A PPD test is required annually following on-boarding. PPD is the test to determine if you have been exposed to tuberculosis.

We want to help our volunteers feel confident and comfortable in the role in which they are placed. In addition to a general orientation to familiarize you with the responsibilities and benefits of volunteering, you will receive training in your particular service area. You will also be required to complete annual training each fall.
